Anthony-Wong Orantes

Anthony Wong-Orantes is thrilled to begin his first season with Red Rock Volleyball Club, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to the program. He joins Red Rock with six seasons of club coaching under his belt, having worked with top Southern California programs including Mizuno Long Beach and Team Rockstar and currently coaching at the DI collegiate level.

In 2023, Anthony served as an Assistant Coach for the Long Beach State Division I women’s volleyball team. He now continues his collegiate career at Saint Mary’s College, where he serves as the Undergraduate Assistant Coach as well as the Director of Volleyball Operations and Technical Coordinator for the women’s Division I program.

At Mizuno Long Beach, Anthony coached a wide range of age groups—most notably five years with the 12-and-under teams, as well as 15s through 18s. During his time with Team Rockstar, he helped multiple teams earn medals across age groups such as 13s, 14s, 17s, and 18s. As a former Team Rockstar player himself, Anthony spent 10 years developing through the club, giving him a deep understanding of the junior volleyball landscape from both sides of the net.

Throughout his coaching career, Anthony has been mentored by elite volleyball minds including Anjinho Bacil, Scott Davenport, Taylor Gregory, Miles Evans, Matt Fuerbringer, and Alfee Reft—an experience that has shaped his thoughtful and competitive coaching style.

A standout libero at Los Alamitos High School under legendary coach Michael Whitcomb (a two-time All-American at UCLA), Anthony returned to his alma mater to coach for five seasons, including one year as head coach. He also spent a season coaching at St. John Bosco High School.

Anthony continued his playing career at Long Beach City College, where he helped the team capture a California State Championship, and later joined Long Beach State, where he was part of the 2018 NCAA National Championship team. Since 2016, he has also served as a practice player for both the USA Men’s and Women’s National Teams.

Anthony is passionate about developing young athletes and is excited to bring his experience, energy, and love for the game to the Red Rock community.
