Marietta Flynn
Marietta is the Founder and Co-Owner of Red Rock Volleyball Club, overseeing all locations, and also founded Kai Beach Volleyball Club. With over 18 years of head coaching experience, she has helped numerous athletes earn spots at top collegiate programs including USC, UCLA, Harvard, Columbia, UC Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, and more.
Marietta founded Red Rock Volleyball Club in Redwood City, where she coached for over a decade and led all her teams (14s–18s) to Junior Nationals in the Open or National divisions. Under her leadership, her Red Rock 18-1 teams had numerous accomplishments including Northern California regional titles, Junior National top-10 finishes, and a bronze medal at Junior Nationals. She has also achieved Open medals at Triple Crown NIT and major qualifiers including Far Westerns and Pacific Northwest.
She later expanded Red Rock to the Walnut Creek/Danville area where she continues to develop a top-performing program. In the recent 24-25 girls' season, Marietta coached the Red Rock 16-1 team to a 1st place finish at Regional Championships in Northern California qualifying for Junior National Championships. In the 23-24 season, she coached the 15-1 team the finished 2nd place at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier, earning a spot in the Girls' Junior National Championship. Her team also placed 3rd at Regional Championships in Northern California, double qualifying for Junior Nationals. In the preceding season, her 14-1 team achieved a top 5 finish in Northern California and qualified for the Girls' Junior National Championships, a remarkable feat in only the club's second year in Danville area. In the inaugural season in Danville, her 14-1 team finished in gold (top 12) in the Northern California region.
Marietta previously led the varsity program at St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco with from 2016-2018, taking over the program in 2016 finishing 3rd in State in the Open division and a 27th National Ranking with a team that in the previous year in 2015 was ranked 447th in the country.
Marietta was born and raised in Louisville, KY and New Albany, IN and is the daughter of former professional basketball player, Mike Flynn. She won the Gold Medal at the 2000 Girls' Junior National Championship playing for Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy (KIVA). At New Albany High School, Marietta excelled as a four-year varsity volleyball player as an outside hitter on a nationally-ranked team (top 50). She led her team to an impressive 28-3 record her senior year earning league MVP. In her graduating class of 700 students, she received both the Overall Top Female Athlete Award and the Top Scholar-Athlete Award.
At Santa Clara University, Marietta excelled academically, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance, while also being a student-athlete playing libero during her collegiate career. Today, she is a finance leader in the biotech industry, a Certified Public Accountant, and small business owner of Red Rock VBC and Kai Beach VBC. “Players often express their desire to follow in my footsteps, and witnessing their growth over the years, on the court, in academics, throughout their professional careers, and in their personal lives is the most fulfilling aspect of my career. I aim to remain an inspiration to all student-athletes.”
Marietta resides in Danville, where she enjoys quality time with her family, staying active at the gym, showering her two cats with endless love, and supporting her favorite sports teams…Go Warriors!!
